Foam "Hardness" for head construction?

I've started looking at buying foam to try building a fursuit head out of it (using the carving block-head approach).  I've taken a look through some how-to's and the fursuit FAQ, and I've located a few potential online places where I can make my purchase.

But I do have a question with regards to the type of foam.  I'm looking at several types of upholstery foam, since it's cheap.  It does come in several different grades, with varying density and compressibility.  I was curious how compressibility (measured as ILD) affected head construction.  Do I want a hard foam or a softer foam for construction, and how does it make a difference?  Is it worth worrying about at all?

Attention all furs and fursuit makers:

I’d like to alert everyone to what is going on in my life. I’m sure this has happened to many of you. I have experienced a bad deal with a fellow fur, and want to warn everyone else about possible bad dealings in the future.

This fur goes by “Overblood” (or “overblood20” on AIM). I only know him through talking with him on AIM. A few months back, he had contacted me about a possible commission. We discussed it several times, and eventually he decided to commission me to create a full fursuit. He came up with the idea for a pink and white skunk he called “Sugar.” We agreed upon a price, and I came up with a concept design, which I e-mailed him a copy of. He promised to pay half the agreed-upon price up front for materials. I never received any payment whatsoever, not even for the design.

I’ve been alerted by several concerned furs that this person has not only been showing this design to nigh on everyone, but that he’s contacted another fursuit maker to use my original design to create the suit I was commissioned to make. He has also been giving permission to other furs to use the design if they’d like, changing the colors and whatnot. Permission he has no right to give. He claims he’s paid for the design and the use of it. I’m here to tell you from the cat’s mouth—he has NOT.

Naturally, I’m quite upset about this. I’m asking that any fur who has contact with this person, please use caution. I’d also like to ask that all fursuit-makers please do not consider creating anything for him. He’s one of those people that makes a lot of plans and never goes through with them. I don’t want anyone else to get screwed over the way I have been. And if you’re one of the commissioners he’s contacted about using the design, please refuse. If he wants this suit made, he needs to come to me directly.

Thanks for reading. Any suggestions as to what action I can would be appreciated.

I have not recieved any credit for this one.

The actual design should look like this: http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/animecat97/detail?.dir=/My+Artwork&.dnm=61db.jpg
