Yes, again. Anyway, my head's coming along really nicely and the furring is almost done. Latest progress shot is here
. I know the tear ducts/eye holes look a little odd now, but trust me, they should look a lot more natural once I have his markings added on. I've had some success experimenting with painting the fur with a fine toothed cat comb - it might not be quite like airbrushing, but it looks nice so far. I tried it out on the tail
I made for him, and I'm quite pleased with the results.
Enough showing off, though - I need more help! Here's my next questions:
What would you recommend for lips? I'm still going for realism here, but I'm unsure as to what to use - a lot of pages I see don't seem to mention how to do lips at all. I'm considering fake leather, but I want to know if there's any other options.
I'm almost ready to add the hair, and while I'm pretty sure a wig would be the best way to get the effect I want, there's still a few things I need to work out. The char's hair is a blueish slate grey colour, and I'm not sure how to achieve that. I'm not entirely sure you can dye wigs, and even if you can, I don't think I could get the right shade. Would I be better off brushing acrylic paint into the hairs like I'll be doing with the fur?
Next time, I promise, I'll make something with simpler markings, and shorter hair. I would have to go overboard for my first time...
