Help with patterns?

I'm making a fursuit for my "punk werewolf" mask and I'm stuck. I'm planning on making it digitigrade, and have already made the undersuit with a lycra pants/shirt and foam sculpting. I've never made a pattern before and I don't know how to make the suit so that the fur is tight on the sculpted parts of the suit, not wrinkly. What problem areas should I look out for and give more area to move around in?

I also don't have the slightest idea as to how to make a tail pattern. I'm totally lost. What are the basics of making a pattern in general?

Gloves: Patterns, Molds, Shaving

I have a whole pile of questions for you guys, mostly about the gloves I'd like to build.

1. First, gloves. I'm unsure about how to make three-dimensional things. I've been told that the best way is to disassemble a glove, but I have a very hard time finding gloves that fit me. Will using a tracing of my hand for a pattern work at all?

2. I've seen ads for "make a lifecast of your hand!" kits. They looks like it could be useful for making more complicated gloves. Does anyone have any experience with that?

3. How well does tool dip hold up on the bottom of a shoe?

4. What do you use when you need to shave fur?
