shaving MM Fox

I'm working on a nova scotia duck tolling retriever head for a customer, and they provided MM'S rust fox fur for me to use on it. I was hoping to see some examples of mm's fox used on a head and shaved down in places. I'm not sure about the texture and how it would look on the muzzle. I have a shortpile rust from fabric.com that's much softer and very dense, which I may use on the face instead, but I wonder about the texture difference. Pics and advice appreciated

Fake Fur allergies?

Hi guys. Just the other day I was cutting fur for a tail and I suddenly came down with a bug, the worst of which seems to have hit me today. I thought this was odd seeing how the last time I cut fur, for a dog head I was completing, I came down with the same bug? But here's the stickler, I was sick somewhat like this before without having interacted with fur at all. Like wise the current fur I'm using is DF, while for another head I used a local supplier fur and hadn't had any reactions what so ever.

So my question is, do any of you have reactions to DF fur? And also, does DF have any material in it that you don't find in your average clothing? (I know I'm fine with Acrylic and stuff), or do you think it's just a bad coincidence?

I need a foam head base!! (canine)

I posted about a week or so ago about a partial suit I'm working on. I'm having ALOT of trouble with the head...I was trying the all-foam method, but it's giving me a frustrating cylindrical shape instead of an awesome canine shape. I was trying to follow Matrices' tutorial, but I just can't seem to make it work. I would totally use a balaclava, but I don't have a wig form/styrofoam head the size of my head, so it wouldn't work out for me.

Instead of continuing being frustrated, I figured I'd give this a shot and see if anyone would be willing to make a foam canine head base for me. My head is 23''. If you want to help me out, just let me know. I need to know how much it'll cost me, too. Oh, and please post a pic of a head you've made so I can see your style :]
I can trade things if you want, though I don't have much just yet. I've got a bunch of Nintendo DS games, a DS Lite, I'll have DF beige left over when I'm done with this partial (obviously I can't give you that until after I finish furring the head), I have build a bear animals (if you really want to know, I can tell you which ones I have). Sorry my options here aren't that great :o

I need this ASAP, so preferably by the end of the month would be GREAT.

Scias head

Hello, everybody!

As a birthday gift to my boyfriend, I was thinking of making him a head to go with his Scias costume from Breath of Fire IV. The thing is, I've never made a balaclava/mascot head before, so I have a huge fistful of questions. I've been looking through the memories in this comm for advice, but I was hoping to get a little more cohesion and specificity re: making a shaggy, near-eyeless, non-toony collie head.

WARNING: This is a very long, very demanding post. Don't feel like you have to address all of my questions, but of you could help me with any of them, I'd really appreciate it.

First of all, here's a reference pic of Scias.

Third of all, any ideas on other fursuiting communities I could cross-post this to? This comm is a wonderful resource, and I hope to get as much good advice from out on the interwebs as possible. I plan on asking around FA, if I can....

Thank you guys SO MUCH for all your help! I'm really excited to get started on this. ^^

Ears That Hide The Wearers Own Ears

So, I'm working on putting together a cosplay of the character Merle, and everything but the ears I've got figured out. http://oishiianime.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Escaflowne-Merle.jpg Does anyone have any tips/tricks for making ears that go over the wearers and hide them? Hiding my ears for the cosplay would just make the costume that much more awesome. I've seen it done before http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3335686/ and they are so gorgeous! I've been pondering commissioning her once I have funds, but learning to make my own would add to my knowledge :3

In any case, I've been trying to figure out how to put the ears together and I just keep coming up dry. Any opinions would be awesome, I may actually send Magpiebones a note asking if she'd offer up a few tips if anything.
