Fur matching

I know this has been asked multiple times, but I was surprised not to find anything in memories or through searches to help people out with this.

I know a lot of fur matching can be off depending on dye lot, but as an example, what if you want to match a longer pile to a shorter pile? Or maybe one company doesn't quite have the color you want, but another company does. How well do they match up in terms of texture, color, length and shine? Will it be overly obvious that they're from different companies? Do they look or feel obviously mismatched?

So...eventually I'd like to make a giant list of different brands and how well they match up, but for now since I know the DF's fabrics, Mendels and CR's are quite popular, which ones match up? How well do they match up in terms of texture, color, length and shine?

I know I have a very decent number of swatches saved up...somewhere. So hopefully I can help contribute when I find them.
Too Cute

Hiding an exposed fake fur edge.

I made a comment in another post with this information, but realized this may benifit others who may not have tried this technique yet too!

This technique illustrates how to hide the edge of the fur on a seam, such as where the fur ends and a nose begins. Its also useful for seams around eyes and if your inner ear fabric transitions to a different material.

This is an alternative to covering a seam with a different material.
