How DO you make those Animal Costumes? (Fursuits)
hair extensions?

Just for curosity's sake....I've been wanting to make a really nice horse tail for quite some time, but I can't stand the feel of the fake wigs. Has anyone had experience making horse tails from human hair? I'm thinking about using the sewn extensions and seeing how that goes, but I wanted to see if anyone had suggestions before I go sinking 70+ dollars into it...

Or if anyone could point me in the direction of horse hair 'extensions' that are sewn at the top like hair extensions.

*for notice this is what i'm talking about when I say sewn extensions - http://www.hairadditions.co.uk/images/clip_pic01_lrg.jpg

Those are wefts. :) I know Dia made a horse but she used real horse hair and wefted the hair herself.

Other than that I donno. :D

I know they use yak hair for wigs and that stuff's two foot long. I bet you could get a hold of some if you did some digging :)

It's reasonabley easy to buy a bundle of loose horse hair and just one would probably be good for a whole tail. You have to weft it yourself, but it's cheaper than prewefted human hair and looks more realistic (thicker strands).

Hey there! I have a horse tail made of human hair extensions with a foam 'spine' near the top. The extensions themselves couldn't have cost more than ten dollars, and it comes to the back of my knees (I'm a short dude, at 5'1", so you may need longer ones) but it's so soft and swishy. I love it, it's one of my favorite tails- and, because I wear the same extensions on my head, it's a perfect match. If you'd like I can post a picture of it?

On an unrelated note... I love your icon up there, mostly because I have my very own bite mark left from when kitty was getting a bath.
